Samuel Escobar

He is a visual artist with an impressive painting background. He was trained at the Odd Nerdrum Academy in Sweden and Norway, which allowed him to obtain certification from the Rembrandt, Rubens, and Vermeer Museum in 16th, 17th, and 18th-century techniques. In addition, he graduated with a degree in painting from the Florence Academy.

Thanks to this solid training, Escobar has created a body of work that is inspired by the aesthetics of poiesis, creating images from poetry and exploring the proximity of the concepts of hyperreality from a philosophical perspective.

Escobar's work has been recognized in prominent places in the art world such as the Louvre Museum, the Carlos de Amberes Foundation, the Prada Foundation, and the Hamptons. His work has not only conquered the world art scene but has also had a great impact on the world of collecting internationally. The first Guatemalan to conquer the
Prado and the Louvre Museum with his works

The Guatemalan artist returned to the Louvre to present the Reminiscence series, which alludes to Plato's concept of Reminiscences

This theme arises from the analysis of why to make hyperrealism

Hyperrealism at a philosophical level,
rather than at a descriptive technical level

A path inspired by Botticelli

One of Escobar's greatest influences was his father, the artist Isaac Escobar. He acknowledges that the support of his mother Ingrid Pivaral and his grandmother Rosario Mendizabal have been very important for him and his brother, the artist Judah Escobar.

The artist highlighted his pride in his father's example, which encouraged him to dedicate himself to art. "Our father's entire investment throughout our childhood was literature; that is why both my brother and I are artists," he said.
